Itinerary
Day 1 - Perth - Kalbarri
The Perth to Exmouth tour starts at 7:25 am from Perth and heads north along the coast. During the tour, you will have lunch by the Indian Ocean and walk through the Pinnacles Desert rock formations guided by your tour guide. As night falls, you will pass through Geraldton and spend the night in Kalbarri.
Meals: Lunch and dinner. Accommodation: Kalbarri Backpackers YHA offers dorms with shared bathroom facilities. Driving distance: 575km. Hike distance: 2km with a grade of 1-2.
Day 2 - Kalbarri - Shark Bay
Today, explore Kalbarri National Park. Hike to Nature’s Window, a stunning rock formation. Take the Z Bend trail for amazing views of the park. In the afternoon, head to Shark Bay and visit a beach with white cockle shells. Tonight, stay in Monkey Mia.
Meals provided are breakfast and dinner. Accommodation is at RAC Monkey Mia Resort Backpacker Dorms or a similar option with shared bathroom facilities. An optional activity is abseiling at Z-Bend in Kalbarri. The driving distance is 450km. The hike distance is 3km with a grade level of 3-4.
Begin your day excitedly by abseiling down the gorge walls in Kalbarri National Park with Kalbarri Abseil. No prior experience is required, as training will be given on-site. All necessary equipment will be provided. Capture your photos or have non-participating guests take them for you. This adventure can be arranged during your tour.
Day 3 - Monkey Mia - Coral Bay
In the morning, you will witness a renowned wildlife encounter in Australia. The Monkey Mia tour Dolphins will swim to shore and be fed by hand in shallow water. Take some time to relax on the stunning coastline before visiting the Stromatolites. These rock formations are made by a single-celled microbe and are estimated to be 3.7 billion years old. They are still alive. Tonight, you will journey to Coral Bay and stay overnight on the Ningaloo Reef.
Meals provided include breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Accommodation options are available in Ningaloo Coral Bay Backpacker Dorms or similar, with shared bathroom facilities. The driving distance is 580km, and the hike distance is 2km with a Grade 1 difficulty level.
Day 4 - Coral Bay
Explore the Ningaloo Reef in Coral Bay. Snorkel in the warm turquoise water near the beach. Take a tour to explore offshore reefs. Relax on the beach and soak up the sun. Travel to Exmouth in the evening.
Meals include breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Accommodation is provided at Potshot Hotel Resort Backpacker Dorms or a similar option with shared bathroom facilities. Guests can swim with Manta Rays, snorkel Ningaloo Reef, and take glass-bottom boat tours. Please note that guests cannot book Whaleshark Swims on this day as they return after the bus has left Coral Bay. The driving distance is 155km with a Grade 1 difficulty level.
Optional Activities: (pre-booking is recommended)
Snorkel with Manta Rays on the Ningaloo Reef with Coral Bay Ecotours (only for competent swimmers).
Coral Bay Ecotours offers a 5-6 hour tour of the Ningaloo Reef. The tour includes all necessary equipment, such as a wetsuit if needed, and provides morning and afternoon tea and a buffet lunch with cold meats and salads. During the tour, you can witness the captivating dance of the manta rays and enjoy two snorkelling sessions on the reef, where you will encounter beautiful fish, corals, and possibly sea turtles and reef sharks. The tour also includes visiting the turtle sanctuary, where you can witness turtles surfacing for a breath in the shallows.
Experience a Glass Bottom Boat tour on the Ningaloo Reef with Coral Bay Ecotours.
You can join Coral Bay Ecotours for a tour of the Ninglao Reef on their glass bottom boat. You will learn about the fish and corals you see under the glass. You can have a 1, 2, or 3-hour journey. The 1-hour journey is just for glass viewing. The 2-hour journey includes glass viewing and a snorkel site. The 3-hour journey includes glass viewing, snorkelling, and visiting the turtle sanctuary. You can watch turtles feeding and coming up for air in the shallows at the turtle sanctuary. The skipper will even try to bring the turtles under the glass for you. Snorkel tours come with equipment.
Whaleshark Swims cannot be booked on [day 4] as they return after the bus departs from Coral Bay. All optional activities in Coral Bay must be completed by 3:45-4:00 pm.
Day 5 - Exmouth
Today, you will explore Cape Range National Park. You will see rugged limestone ranges, deep canyons, and 50km of pristine beaches. Don’t miss out on visiting Turquoise Bay, Vlamingh Head Lighthouse, and relaxing at Milyering Visitors Center. The tour will finish in the late afternoon, making it an incredible end to your Perth to Exmouth tour.
Meals include breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Accommodation is provided at Potshot Hotel Resort Backpacker Dorms or a similar option with shared bathroom facilities. There are two options for swimming: Whaleshark (available from March to September) or Humpback (available from August to October). Pre-booking is required for the swim. The driving distance is 135km, and the hiking distance is 1km with a grade of 1-2.
Optional Activities: (pre-booking is recommended)
Exmouth Dive Centre offers the opportunity to swim with Whalesharks and Humpback Whales during their seasonal period from March to August. Snorkelling is available, but only for competent swimmers.
Join Exmouth Dive Centre for a day on the water. Start with a reef snorkel to see coral gardens and fish. You might even see turtles or reef sharks! Then, they’ll search for humpback whales and whale sharks with a spotter plane. The humpback whale swim depends on the whales’ willingness to participate. If they don’t cooperate, the plane will find another group. All equipment is provided, including wetsuits if needed. They also supply morning and afternoon tea and a buffet lunch.
Day 6 - End of tour in Exmouth
Regrettably, check-out time for your accommodation is at 10:00 am today.
Meals provided include breakfast. Guests can extend their stay or make arrangements to connect to their next destination, which will be at their own expense.
