FAQ

The best time to visit Uluru is during the winter months (June to August), when temperatures are mild and skies are clear, ideal for outdoor activities and stargazing. Spring (September to November) is also a great time with mild weather and vibrant wildflowers.
Must-do activities include guided tours to learn about the area’s history and cultural significance, witnessing the changing colours of Uluru at sunrise and sunset, exploring the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, participating in Aboriginal cultural tours, and enjoying amenities at Ayers Rock Resort.
Climbing Uluru is strongly discouraged out of respect for the traditional owners’ cultural beliefs and due to safety concerns. Visitors are encouraged to explore the area through other means, like guided tours and walks.
Essential items include sun protection (hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen), comfortable walking shoes, insect repellent, plenty of water, light layers of clothing (for varying temperatures), a camera, and cash or cards for additional expenses.

You can fly into Ayers Rock Airport, which is a 20-minute drive to the national park. Alternatively, a road trip from Alice Springs (about 450 km away) offers a chance to see the outback scenery. The Ghan train also runs to Alice Springs, from where you can take a coach tour to Uluru. Various organised tours are available, catering to different budgets and interests.
